Night of the Consumers

NIGHT OF THE CONSUMERS – SURVIVAL HORROR IN THE CHAOS OF RETAIL WORK

Night of the Consumers is a first-person indie survival horror game developed by Germfood. Unlike traditional horror games that rely on monsters or supernatural threats, this game turns everyday retail work into a stressful and chaotic survival experience.

Story Overview - Your First Day at Work

The game begins with you joining a supermarket as a new employee. Almost immediately, you are scolded by the store manager for being late and instructed to report to a senior worker named Jimmy.

However, Jimmy is already overwhelmed by the stressful environment. Moments after meeting you, he quits on the spot, leaving behind a survival handbook before escaping the store. Now, you are left alone to complete your first shift: stocking shelves before closing time while dealing with demanding customers.

GAMEPLAY - A RACE AGAINST TIME AND PRESSURE

Your main objective is to organize products across the supermarket before time runs out in Night of the Consumers.

You will need to:

  • Find scattered boxes around the store
  • Carry them to the correct aisles
  • Place items on shelves manually
  • Manage limited time efficiently

A countdown timer constantly reminds you that closing time is approaching fast.

Unpredictable Customers - The Real Threat

In Night of the Consumers, customers are the main source of danger. They behave unpredictably and move aggressively when they need assistance.

Their behavior includes:

  • Wandering through the store
  • Suddenly noticing the player
  • Chasing you if ignored
  • Demanding assistance with specific products

If approached, you must guide them to the correct aisle. Failing to assist them properly increases their frustration, making them even more aggressive.

Some customers may also have unusual requests, such as asking for help finding missing items or specific products across the store.

Survival Tools and Movement

To survive the chaos, players can use several tactics:

  • Throw boxes to briefly stun customers
  • Hide in employee-only rooms to escape danger
  • Run between aisles to avoid crowded situations
  • Balance stocking tasks with customer requests

However, hiding is only temporary, as time continues to pass and objectives must still be completed.
