EXPLORE SHINKOUMI TO FIND CLUES AND ADVANCE THE STORY
The main gameplay in Slow Damage alternates between Exploration and Interrogation. Each system serves a different purpose, so paying attention during one phase can help you make better choices in the next.
- Explore Shinkoumi: During Exploration, choose available locations such as Towa's Atelier, Murase Clinic, Roost, and other districts. You can move directly toward the current objective or visit additional areas to learn more about the city and its residents.
- Collect Inspiration: Talking with characters can trigger Positive or Negative responses. The right response can provide an Inspiration, a phrase recorded in Towa's Palette and later used during important conversations. Not every interaction provides one, so exploring optional locations can matter.
- Interrogate Key Characters: During major Interrogation scenes, present collected Inspiration while responding to the target. These choices affect the character's Euphoria and Madness meters. Your goal is generally to raise Euphoria, while poor choices can push the scene toward Madness or Game Over.
- Reach Different Endings: Route progression depends on your choices and collected information. Taku and Rei are available early, while Madarame unlocks after completing the required routes, followed by Fujieda. Routes can lead to Euphoria or Madness endings, with additional early Game Over outcomes.
A Choice System Built Around Interrogation
The unusual part is the Euphoria/Madness hourglass. Positive and Negative responses can shift the meters, while Inspiration gives you another way to influence the target. During an Interrogation, watch the hints, consider the character's reaction, and decide whether to push, agree, or hold back. If the Madness side fills or Euphoria drops below the required point when the timer runs out, the scene can end badly.
