Whether you're revisiting the Blue Blur or discovering him for the first time, Sonic Mania delivers an exciting platforming experience packed with speed, exploration, and replay value.
HOW TO PLAY SONIC MANIA
At its core, Sonic Mania is built around fast movement, precise platforming, and rewarding exploration. Each level offers multiple routes, hidden secrets, and unique mechanics that keep every playthrough engaging.
- Race through vibrant 2D stages packed with loops, springs, moving platforms, and alternate pathways. Players can sprint toward the finish or slow down to uncover hidden areas and collectibles.
- Choose from three iconic heroes, each with their own abilities. Sonic uses the new Drop Dash to maintain momentum after jumping, Tails can fly to reach elevated platforms, and Knuckles glides through the air while climbing walls to discover exclusive routes.
- Collect Rings and power-ups throughout every stage. Rings provide protection from hazards, while classic Item Boxes grant useful bonuses such as elemental shields, temporary invincibility, extra speed, and additional lives.
- Challenge creative Special Stages by finding Giant Rings hidden inside levels. Successfully collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds unlocks the game's complete ending and adds another layer of exploration.
- Face inventive boss battles at the end of each Act. Every encounter features unique attack patterns and encourages players to combine quick reflexes with careful timing.

Alongside these classics are original stages including Studiopolis Zone, Press Garden Zone, Mirage Saloon, and Titanic Monarch, offering creative themes, interactive environments, and memorable music that perfectly complement the classic Sonic formula.
Multiple Game Modes for Endless Replayability
Beyond the main adventure, Sonic Mania offers several additional modes that extend the experience.
- Mania Mode lets players enjoy the complete story.
- Time Attack challenges you to finish stages as quickly as possible while climbing leaderboard rankings.
- Competition Mode allows two players to race side by side in split-screen multiplayer.
- Encore Mode (available in Sonic Mania Plus) introduces Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel, along with a new character-switching system that changes how levels are approached.
These modes provide plenty of reasons to replay the game long after completing the main campaign.
